About

About Josie.

Before founding Canvus, Josie spent a decade building things across startups and big tech — scaling Dataform from a small team to 150+ customers before its acquisition by Google, running international partnerships and programmes across Asia at Founders Forum, and managing complex cross-functional launches inside Google itself.

She's been the person who figures out what needs to happen and then makes it happen — at every stage, across every size of organisation.

Depending on the project, she brings in trusted specialists — so every engagement has exactly the right expertise behind it.

What people say

"Josie helped us shape and execute several key growth initiatives — from refining our positioning and thought leadership to developing customer stories and building partnerships within our ecosystem. She brings a rare mix of strategic thinking and hands-on execution and is an absolute joy to work with. She is one of those rare people who combines real talent with genuine warmth — she cares deeply, works tirelessly, and makes every team better for having her in it."

Dan Lee
Founder, Outlier & CTO, Fit Collective

"Josie has been instrumental in delivering Tech Nation's UK Expansion Programme in Singapore. She brings deep understanding of both the UK and Southeast Asian startup ecosystems and has played a key role in connecting high-growth Singapore companies with mentors, partners and opportunities in the UK. Her strategic approach and attention to detail ensure the programme consistently delivers meaningful outcomes for founders."

Ellie Steele
GM, Tech Nation

"Josie was instrumental in bringing our AI for Schools community to life. She shaped the programme from the ground up, onboarded our first teacher cohorts, and grew an engaged community of 200+ educators — while building the infrastructure to scale: newsletter, events, tooling, and a seamless handover. What sets her apart is the ability to hold the strategy and run the execution at the same time — and the result speaks for itself."

Community Building

Maikai — AI for Schools

Maikai had a vision for a teacher community but no playbook for how to build one — and no one experienced enough to figure it out. Josie came in, defined the strategy, built the infrastructure from scratch, and got 120+ teachers onboarded. The newsletter, events series, and resource bank were designed to scale from the start — handing over to a junior community manager was always the goal, and the systems were built for exactly that.

Programme Delivery

Tech Nation — UK Expansion Programme

Tech Nation needed an experienced operator in Singapore to run their UK expansion programme for Southeast Asian startups — someone who understood both ecosystems and could manage the full programme without hand-holding. Josie ran four cohorts over two years, working with roughly 40 startups in total — handling everything from selection and evaluation to mentor matching and founder relationships. Startups left the programme with real traction in the UK: incorporations completed, first MOUs signed with UK customers, and initial hires made.

FAQ

Common questions

Canvus is a hands-on strategic consultancy. That means Josie doesn't just advise — she embeds with your team and does the work. Typical engagements involve designing and delivering programmes, building partnership strategies, supporting market entry, or developing the narrative and content that helps your organisation show up credibly in a new context.

Primarily three kinds of organisations: startups that need to build partnerships or enter new markets but don't have a dedicated person to do it; accelerators, VCs, and ecosystem builders that need experienced hands to design and run founder programmes; and corporates or government-backed organisations that are running innovation initiatives and need an operator who understands the startup world.

Josie leads every engagement personally. For projects that need it, she brings in trusted specialists in facilitation, content, PR, and design, but she's always your main point of contact.

It varies. Some clients bring Josie in for a focused 4–6 week sprint to design a programme or launch a partnership strategy. Others work with her on a retained basis over 3–6 months for ongoing delivery. The right structure depends on what you're trying to achieve — it's always the first thing we work out together.

Concrete deliverables, not slide decks. Depending on the engagement: a fully designed and delivered programme, a working partnership or distribution channel, a market entry strategy with warm introductions built in, or a content and positioning framework your team can actually use. Josie's background is in execution — she measures success by what gets done, not what gets recommended.

Most consultants diagnose and recommend. Josie builds and ships. She's been an early-team operator, a programme lead, and a partnerships manager — she knows what it takes to actually move things forward in a resource-constrained environment. If you need someone to tell you what to do, this probably isn't the right fit. If you need someone to come in and do it with you, that's exactly what Canvus is for.

Yes. Josie is based in Singapore but has worked across Europe and Asia throughout her career — with UK-based organisations like Founders Forum and Tech Nation, as well as global teams at Google. She's comfortable working across time zones and regularly supports organisations bridging the UK, Europe, and Southeast Asia.

You get senior-level experience exactly when you need it, without the cost and commitment of a permanent hire. For most clients that's a better fit than building a team before they're ready to.

Just get in touch. Drop Josie a note at josie@canvus.co or via LinkedIn with a brief summary of what you're working on and what kind of support you're looking for. She'll come back within a couple of days and suggest a short call to see if it's a good fit.
